A resident of Baton Rouge, he died at 10 p.m. Friday, May 5, 2000, peacefully at his home surrounded by his family and friends. He was 49. Visiting at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday, with a service at 7:30 p.m. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Ackermann Hoffpauir; his daughters, Jessica Hoffpauir and Katherine Hoffpauir Wardlaw; his son, Mike Hoffpauir; his son-in-law, Daniel Wardlaw; his mother, Pat Hutter; his stepfather, Jerry Hutter; his sister, Helen Kay Hoffpauir; and his grandmother, Mabel Armer. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph C. Hoffpauir Jr. Born in Baytown, Texas, he was a 1969 graduate of Broadmoor High School in Baton Rouge and attended Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond. A self-taught computer programmer, he developed after-market software for Dahlgren Engraving Systems of California. In 1986, he founded Xenetech, a company that develops, manufactures and internationally markets software and computerized engraving systems. He was the recipient of the Sales and Marketing Executives International Marketer of the Year in 1996, the first inductee in the Dahlgren Hall of Fame, and his company received the Baton Rouge Business Awards Company of the Year award last month. He enjoyed drag racing and was well known for his yellow 1977 Corvette that he personally restored and maintained. His best time was 12.52 seconds at 113 mph in the quarter mile. He was also a World War II historian and an avid reader. He will not only be remembered for his intelligence and accomplishments, but most for his personal generosity, care and love for others. He was a talented and giving man who will be deeply missed by all those who knew him. He was a friend of Bill W. Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice Foundation. The family would like to thank Dr. Miletello and Dr. Reine and the staff for their counsel and kindness through his illness.
