Death
Obituary: Allie Ruth Hoffpauir, 84, of Lake Charles died at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009, in her residence. Mrs. Hoffpauir was a native of Woodbury, Tenn., and had lived in Lake Charles for the past 62 years. She was a graduate of Woodbury High School and was voted Most Beautiful in 1942. Mrs. Hoffpauir loved spending time with her grandchildren, her family and her friends. She also loved gardening, her rose bushes and woodworking. Mrs. Hoffpauir was a member of South City Christian Church for many years. Mrs. Hoffpauir is survived by one son, Mickey Paul Hoffpauir and wife Jeannie of Atlanta, La.; five daughters; Bonnie Rae Manning and husband John of Lake Charles, Vivian Lee Houk and husband Al of New Braunfels, Texas, Susan Diane Hoffpauir of Lake Charles, Mandy Lynn Spittler and husband Lynn of Nederland, Texas, and Catherine Ann Hoffpauir of Lake Charles; two sisters, Hazel Sparkman and Wilma Hall, both of Woodbury; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Mrs. Hoffpauir was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters; one grandson, Adam Houk; one son, Barry Hoffpauir; and her husband, Asa Lee Hoffpauir. Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, from South City Christian Church in Lake Charles. Brother Robby Bacon, Brother John Manning and Brother Al Houk will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be 4-9 p.m. today (Friday, Jan. 23) in the funeral home.
