Obituary: Aaron Joseph Jenkins "Jenks" and "Boppa" Aaron Jenkins, 84, of Weddington Park passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2010. Services in celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at Munholland United Methodist Church in Metairie, LA where visitation with the family will be 1 PM to 2 PM followed by a Memorial Service. Additionally, a Memorial Service was held on January 21, 2010 at Weddington Park in Matthews, NC. Aaron was born on January 7, 1926 in Paulsboro, NJ, son of the late Aaron and Elsie Pedersen Jenkins. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty L. Hoffpauir Jenkins and by his sisters, Betty Jane Jenkins and Barbara Norby. He worked as an engineer in offshore oil exploration for many years following his service to his country. He was in the Merchant Marines as well as the US Air Force and served time in both the Korean War and WWII. His outdoor favorites were golfing and fishing and when indoors he liked working crossword puzzles, reading and watching Jeopardy. He was a loving father and grandfather and a friend to all; he knew no strangers. Survivors include his daughters, Pam Cross and husband Joe of Matthews, NC, Penny Whitehead and husband, Jeffrey; his son, Perry Jenkins and his granddaughter, Sara Rose Whitehead all of Metairie, LA.
