Obituary: Rayne-Funeral services for Mr. Joseph Hargrave, 78, of Rayne will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. in Duhon Funeral Home Chapel, Rayne. In keeping with Mr. Hargrave's wishes, his earthly remains will be cremated following the service. Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2013 from 9:00 A.M. until service time in the funeral home. Mr. Hargrave passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at 12:57 P.M. in Maurice. A Rayne resident for the past 37 years, Mr. Hargrave was raised in Indian Bayou. He was a graduate with honors of Indian Bayou School, where he was voted Most Handsome. He retired from Sears where he was an appliance technician for 32 years. Mr. Hargrave also owned and operated a crawfish pond. His greatest joy in life was being with and caring for his family. He also enjoyed hunting and training his hunting dogs, watching westerns on TV, and spending time with his grandkids. Survivors include his wife of over 30 years, Brenda Hoffpauir Hargrave of Rayne; daughters, Lisa Lyons and husband, Chris of Duson, Janet Yeager and fiancé, Dirk Schonacher of Marrero, Deborah Lyro and husband, Anthony of Franklin, TN, and Nancy Wallace and husband, Eddy of Round Rock, TX; son, Brett Hornsby of Round Rock, TX; sisters, Eugenia Ryder, Ozite Trahan, Mavis Fishback, Mary Lee Coulter, and Patsy Allie Stansbury; brother, Remy Hargrave, Jr.; grandchildren, Jeremy Lyons, Jenny Lyons Simon, Brandon Yeager, Brittany Mitchell, Brad Bourque, and Ashley Hornsby; great-granddaughter, Lucy Simon; a great-grandchild on the way, Brianna Mitchell; and a host of other relatives and friends. Preceding Mr. Hargrave in death were his parents, Remy Hargrave, Sr. and Alphonsine Feverjean Hargrave; sister, Gloria Touchet; and brothers, Leon Hargrave, Odilion Hargrave, Eugene Hargrave, Raymond Hargrave, Clifton Hargrave, and Weston Hargrave.
