January 13, 2002 Lafayette Daily Advertiser - CROWLEY - Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at Geesey-Ferguson Chapel, for Bernice Hunter Spell, 81, who died at 6:45 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, 2002, at Landmark Retirement Home. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. The Rev. Spiller Milton will officiate.
Survivors include one daughter, Ruth Spell, of Lafayette; and one sister, Mary H. Tyler, of Lafayette.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Spell; one son, Leonard G. "Pep" Spell; two brothers, Daniel Vincent Hunter and James John Hunter; and her parents, Robert and Felecie Abrero Hunter.
Visitation hours will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
The family requests that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, the First United Methodist Church of Crowley or large print books at the Acadia Parish Library: Leonard Gerald "Pep: Spell Memorial Fund at LSUE."
Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home of Crowley is in charge of the arrangements.
