Individual Details
Clara Nona Dealy
(30 Nov 1923 - 5 Nov 2003)
We watched her suffer day by day;
It caused us bitter grief
To see her slowly pine away,
And could not give relief.
Her weary hours and days of pain,
Her troubled nights are passed,
And in our aching hearts we know
Some day, sometime our eyes shall see
The face we know so well,
Some day, sometime, her hand we'll clasp
And never say farewell.

Clara Nona Dealy Boudreaux slipped the bonds of mortal life to return to the Lord she has so faithfully served all the days of her life on Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2003, in a local care facility.
Born on Nov. 30, 1923, to Marie Hilda Keller and James Ira Dealy in Lake Charles, she was a faithful servant at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception as a lector and lay minister of Communion for many years before retiring. During World War II she was an airplane mechanic at the airbase in Alexandria. Her cheerful voice greeted customers at I.L. Lyons Wholesale Drug Co. in Lake Charles and New Orleans and at Estorge Drug Co. in Lafayette, where she took and typed telephone orders and maintained inventory books before the advent of computers.
In later years, as a very accurate typist at Boeing Aircraft/Space Division, she liked to joke that she helped launch a spacecraft into orbit because of the specs that she typed so meticulously. She was a longtime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Christus-St. Patrick Hospital. A devoted mother, grandmother, wife, friend, cousin and "aunt" to myriad great nieces, nephews and "little cousins" that she loved dearly, she was the bond that kept many of the outlying strands of the family bound together in knowledge of one another by her visits, phone calls, cards and caring.
She is survived by her daughter, Rita Boudreaux Hammack; grandson, Tony Drew Hammack; granddaughter, Jennifer Ashleigh Hammack; all of Lake Charles. Mrs. Boudreaux was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Lester Joseph Boudreaux.
The family would particularly like to thank devoted family friend and "adopted daughter" Mary Begnaud for "meritorius service above and beyond" and the staffs of Lake Charles Care Center and Odyssey Health Care hospice program for their constant support and comfort during this difficult time.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, 2003 from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. The Rev. Aubrey Guilbeau will officiate. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be 10:30 a.m.-8 p.m. Thursday, with a rosary at 6 p.m., and 8 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Odyssey Hospice Program, 1639 A Ryan St., Suit 1, Lake Charles, LA 70601. (LCAP 6 Nov 2003)
