Listed as Merchant/Landowner in 1900 census. Sometime between 1900 an d 1907, the family relocated to Cov ington, OK. Dad, D. B. Gardner, a lways told the story tha t W. C. had over $10,000 in the Covington Ban k, and the ban k president embezzled the money and fled. The money w as n ever recovered according to dad. Thelma and dad were bot h born w hile the family lived in Covington. When Jane and I lived in Garfiel d County (1973-1979), I vis ited with an elderly lady at a Covington s ervice station wh o recalled the Gardner farm as being north and wes t of Covi ngton.
