Uncle Louis ws a medic in the Iwo Jima battle. His nephew, Jack Smit h (son of "Uncle Doc" and "Aunt Elmira Brockman" Smith) told me this i n an email on May 12, 2009. Here is what cousin Jack said: "Did yo u know Louis was a medic in the Iwo Jima battle? I know little about i t...he won't talk about it...(finally DID tell me a good friend was ki lled right away in one of the invasions..not sure THA T was what I wan ted to hear). I think he was in Europe and the Pacific...(I DO have a n image of his coming home from my babybed...he in his NAVY uniform. W e lived upstairs over Granny [Mildred Anzo Hu rt]Brockman...I see hi m looking down into the backyard.
