Dorothy Ellen Carter, age 91 of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away on W ednesday, September 24, 2014, at Life Care Center of Carrollton.
Dorothy was born on January 3, 1923, the daughter of Roscoe and Mary R obison Thomas in Carrollton, Missouri. She attended Peavine Country Sc hool and graduated from Carrollton High School. She attended and gradu ated from Nursing School in Kansas City, Missouri and then as a Nurs e Anesthetist from the Anesthesia School in Peoria, Illinois. She wa s employed as a Nurse Anesthetist and Office Nurse for John H. Platz , M.D. where she worked for many years. Dorothy was also employed fo r thirty years at Lucy Lee Hospital in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. She wa s of the Presbyterian faith.
Dorothy is survived by her two daughters, Joyce Carter, of Raytown, Mi ssouri, and Jeanne Carter Bridges, of Farmington, Missouri; four grand children; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; an d many nieces nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Bill Thomas .
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 28, 2014, from 1:00 p.m . until 1:45 p.m. at Bittiker Funeral Home, 1201 North US 65 Highway , Carrollton, Missouri.
Graveside Services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery, Carr ollton, with Reverend Cheryl Sanders officiating.
