SANTA FE, July 30, 1941 Two Santa Fe youths drowned Wednesday in a small reservoir on the Tecsuque Indian reservation, eight miles north of Santa Fe. The victims were Leo Jiron, 16, son of Celsq Jiron, and Luis Gonzales 18, son of David Gouzale s Sr. State Police Captain A. B. Martinez and Patrolman James Roach recovered the bodies by diving. Marlinez said seven boys were playing at the reservoir's edge and three of them stepped beyond a sudden drop-off into 12 feet of
water. Abraham Briles, the only one who could swim, managed to rescue Bennie Rodriguez, but the other two drowned before he could return for them.
