Death
ANGOLA - Harriet Powers Briles, age 95, passed away May 14, 2015 at Cameron Woods Assisted Living Center in Angola, Indiana after a short illness. Born on October 8, 1919, in Greenfield, Indiana, she was the daughter of James B. and Hazel (Parnell) Powers. She graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor’s degree in 1941 and completed her Master of Arts degree at Ball State University in 1966.She married Paul R. Briles on October 12, 1946. She worked for the Savings & Loan League of Indiana for 10 years. She taught in the Southern Hancock elementary schools for 15 years, retiring in 1981. Mrs. Briles was a lifelong member of the Greenfield Friends Church, a member of Tri Kappa Sorority, and Klover Reading Klub.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and James Huber of Fremont, IN and grandson, John Huber and his wife, Katie, of Franklin, NY, several nieces and nephews and their families. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, and two sisters, Amy Roney and Ruth Louise Powers.
Per her wishes, there will be no calling. Private graveside services and burial will be in the New Palestine Cemetery.
