lydena Mae McCollum, 73, of Liberal, Kansas passed away died June 29, 2010 at Southwest Medical Center, Liberal after a lengthy illness. She was born August 23, 1936 in Overbrook, KS, the daughter of Clyde and Lauva Hasty Briles.
In June 1957, she married Ronald Shives and they had two sons: Richard Shives and Daren Shives.
In July 1987, she married Jerry McCollum of Liberal.
Clydena attended Adams Schools. She worked at Ideal and Safeway Meat Markets in Liberal until she started her family. Later she worked for Beach Aircraft in Liberal. She was a homemaker who enjoyed embroidering, playing dominoes and loved collecting ceramic chickens. She was a member of Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Lauva Briles; Ronald Shives; her son, Daren; and husband, Jerry McCollum.
She is survived by her son, Richard and his wife, Chris, of Security, CO; her sister, Bernell Richards and husband, Rodney, of Hardesty, OK; and a brother, Darrell Briles and Carol, of Wikieup, AZ; numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, July 2, 2010 at the Hooker Cemetery with Rev. Herbert Bridgewater of Union Center United Methodist Church officiating. Roberts Brothers Funeral Home in Hooker, Oklahoma is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the Union Center United Methodist Church or the American Lung Association and may be left at the Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Box 745, Hooker, Oklahoma 73945.
