Doris Briles, 87, of Creston, died Monday, November 5, 2018 at Crest Haven Care Centre in Creston. Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday November 10, 2018 at the Powers Funeral Home 601 New York Ave. in Creston. Pastor Tony Thurston will officiate. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Creston. Open memorial visitation with family receiving friends will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time Saturday November 10, 2018 at Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Memorials are to the family. Doris Jean Briles was born March 8, 1931 in Creston to Inez (Clinton) White and Earl White. She grew up in Creston and graduated from Creston High School in1949.
Doris was united in marriage to Harvey Louis Briles on August 26, 1950in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was a housewife early in their marriage. She also worked at the Credit Union and sold Avon for about 5 years. They later divorced. Doris went to work at Wellman’s Dynamics, where she worked until retirement in1996.
Doris was united in marriage to George Toledo and continued living in Creston. They were later divorced. Doris lived with Ray Casey for over 11 years in Creston. Doris was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Creston, she was a member of the Mary Circle and also formerly a member of the Creston Eagle’s Lodge.
Survivors include three daughters, Sandy Manrose of Papillion, Neb.; Cathy (husband Jerry) Balius of Creston; Debbie (husband Kevin) Glick of Creston; one son, Jeff (wife Brenda) Briles of Perry, IA.; one brother Ronnie White of Santa Rosa, Calif.; two sisters, Marge Chrisinger of Grimes, IA.; Joyce Fah of Harlan, IA.; 8 grandchildren Ryan (wife Julie) Manrose of Omaha, Neb., Jason (wife Wendy) Hayes of Creston, Nicki Hayes (Jesse Stauffer) of Creston, Ia., Chad Means (Zach Job) of New York, N.Y., Cody Means of Raleigh, N.C., Davin (wife Kiarha) Briles of Adel, Ia., Larissa Briles (Brad Renshaw) of Perry, Ia and Beau Briles of Perry and 9 great-grandchildren Haley and Jordan Manrose, Briley, Brennan and Blake Hayes, Dylan Meggison (Tiffany Scott), Bryce and Connor Larkin and Aiden Briles.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson Shawn Manrose, her sister Carol Hauser, her brother Junior White; brothers-in-law Joe Fah and Dale Chrisinger; son-in-law Jack Manrose and significant other Ray Casey.
