Irene Adeline Keys, 94, a longtime resident of The Dalles, died at a local care facility on Friday, Nov. 20, 2009. She was born in Aberdeen, Wash. on June 24, 1915, one of 10 children to Walter and Laura (Freeman) Hiatt. She married Charles Keys and they lived for many years in The Dalles. She worked at Sears until her retirement. Her interests were antiques and dancing and she was also very active in The Dalles Eagles Lodge No. 2126 and auxiliary. She is survived by her husband, Charles Keys, The Dalles; her daughter, Doris McCann and her husband Dell; her son, Peter Briles and his wife Kay; her grandchildren, Ron McCann, Teresa and Leo McNair, Darcy Hanartty and Kelly St. Auben; two great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Marjorie Tibbets and Faye Fehrs and numerous nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her first two husbands, Les Briles and Wesley Tibbets; her parents; seven siblings and her grandson, Gary McCann.
Graveside services held on Tuesday, Nov. 24, at 1 p.m. at Odd Fellows Cemetery Cherry Heights with Bob Guerrant officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home.
