Kathleen Sue Briles, 48, of Terra Ceia, died Aug. 3, 2009.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Harvest United Methodist Church, 14305 Covenant Way, Lakewood Ranch.
Survivors include her husband, James Briles; a daughter, Kristen Venema (Thomas); sons Calvin Briles (Lauren and daughter "Silly Sonya Snowflake") and Curtis Briles (Amanda); her mother, Gladys Bethel Scrivner; sisters Carol Morris, Shirley Asher, Judy Moore, Brenda Steely, Lois Murphy, Diane Brinker, Debbie Scrivner and Paulyn Scrivner; a brother, McKinley Lakes; mother-in-law Lorene Briles, sister-in-law Dory Briles; brothers-in-law Ed Briles and Thomas Briles; cats Billy White Shoes, Mr. Lucky, Peter, Blu Bear, Pickle, Sonny Jim, Sweet Pea, Sister Susie, G.E. Pussaman and Sage; K-9 Mr. Bub; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Kathleen was predeceased by her father, Charles Lee Scrivner; a brother, Charles Scrivner; a sister-in-law, Mary Briles; a brother-in-law, Monroe Asher and her loving dog, Wheezer.
She was born in Wilmington, Ohio. She moved to Bradenton in 1983. Kathleen was a loving and devoted mother and wife. She was tough in spirit but tender in heart. She made everyone who came to her home feel welcome and loved. She had that unique quality of making friends and family feel they were the most important people in her life.
In addition to her being a loving mother and wife, Kathleen was a student at State College of Florida and involved in AmeriCorps-VISTA (Volunteer Manatee), Pet Awareness for Seniors (PAWS), Toastmasters International and A Soldiers Request for Balls and Shoes for Iraqi Children.
She was an animal advocate and a youth soccer coach and shot pool like a machine.
