Arlene McKigney, age 67, died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2008, at her home surrounded by her family. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13, at Church of the Sacred Heart in Glenwood with Father Peter Kirchner, Jr. officiating. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery, Glenwood.
Arlene Anna Wolbeck, daughter of John and Leona (Hiltner) Wolbeck, was born on Aug. 22, 1941, in Sauk Centre. She grew up near Sauk Centre on her parents' farm. On Aug. 23, 1960, she was united in marriage to Leo McKigney at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. The couple made their home on a dairy and grain farm near Villard, where they raised their six children and attended St. Bartholomew Catholic Church. Arlene will be lovingly remembered for helping those in need, caring for the children of neighbors, family and friends, and sewing countless quilts for mission work. She was a member of the Christian Mothers and enjoyed polka dancing, working on the family farm, cooking and playing cards with friends. Arlene will always be remembered for her welcoming smile, selflessness and giving nature.
Arlene is survived by her husband of 48 years, Leo McKigney of Villard; children Darrell McKigney of Arlington, Va., Denise (Ralph) Jenkins of Hope, Donavon McKigney of Minneapolis, Deanna McKigney of Eagan, Darren (Christine) McKigney of Minneapolis; Dana (Beth) McKigney of Champlin; grandchildren Travis and Tanner Kadrlik; sisters Rita (Clarence) Trisko, Irma (Dave) Bromenshenkel, Marilyn Bromenshenkel, Irene (Vern) Uhlenkamp, Doris (Dallas) Hamilton, all of Sauk Centre, Joyce (Mike) Primus of Melrose, Arlis (Dave) Pesta of Long Prairie; brothers Irvin (Donna) Wolbeck, LeRoy Wolbeck, Donald (Jeanine) Wolbeck, all of Sauk Centre; three stepsisters; three stepbrothers and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-law, Dan Bromenshenkel; sister-in-law, Irene Wolbeck; stepmother, Juletta (Kunstleben) Wolbeck and one stepsister.
