Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Regal, for Edwin G. Hiltner, 80, who died Tuesday at his home. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 9 tonight at Daniel-Anderson Funeral Home, Paynesville. Parish prayers will be at 7 tonight at the funeral home in Paynesville.
Edwin Hiltner was born in Melrose to John and Agnes (Dickhaus) Hiltner. He married Clara Wolbeck on April 24, 1946, in New Munich. The couple farmed in the St. Rose and Albany areas before moving to a turkey farm in Georgeville where he was farm manager until 1979. The couple then moved to Hawick where he was employed by E.B.O. Farms until his retirement in 1984. He worked part time at E.B.O. farms until his death. He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church.
Survivors include his sons and daughters, Jim and Gary of Eden Valley, Jerome of Wadena, Sylvester of Belgrade, Bernice VanDorsten and David of Hawick, Marlene Burg of New York Mills; 25 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Martha Butkowski of New Munich, Juletta Kunstleben-Wolbeck of Freeport, Raymond of Waite Park, Melvin of Burtrum, Lidwina Wolbeck and Clarrissa Barthel of Grey Eagle, Alphonse of Melrose, Leander of Scandia, Anna Mae Speldrich and Cyril of Belgrade.
He was preceded in death by his wife on Nov. 10, 1998; son Linus on Nov. 30, 1985; three grandchildren; and sisters and brother, Leona Wolbeck, Alvina and Edward.
