Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday, and one hour prior to services Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport. Freeport Seniors will pray at 4:30, Saint Joseph's Society, Sacred Heart Catholic Aid, and Albany Knights of Columbus will pray at 7 p.m., followed by parish prayers at 8 p.m.
Survivors include his wife, Josepha (nee Steinemann) Kerfeld of Freeport; children, Doris (Charles) Hockert of Oklahoma City, OK, Elaine (Ralph) Stueve of Richfield, Harold (Dianne) Kerfeld of Freeport, Donald (Diane) Kerfeld of St. Paul, Glenn (Nancy) Kerfeld of Circle Pines, and Jean (Virgil) Zwilling of Bowlus; sisters and brother, Adella Blommel of Melrose, Eleanor Herzog of Willow River, MN, Marie (Lawrence) Eiynck of Albany, Olivia Kimlinger of Waite Park, Ray Kerfeld of Freeport, and Rita (Albert) Niehaus of Melrose; 22 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
