Marie K. Johnson of Long Prairie died Friday, March 1, 2002, at St. Otto's Care Center in Little Falls.
Services will begin at 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 4, 2002 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Long Prairie, MN. Father Mark Stang will officiate. Visitation will be held from 2:30 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, and after 8:00 a.m. Monday, at the Stephan-Stein Funeral Home in Long Prairie.
Marie K. Johnson was born on April 9, 1915 to Joseph and Katherine (Imdieke) Kemper of Melrose. She married Clarence B. Johnson on July 15, 1941 in Melrose. She and her husband lived in St. Paul, and Elmdale, MN, before moving to Long Prairie in 1946. They farmed most of their life in Bruce Township, east of Long Prairie. After her husband's death, she moved into Long Prairie. Marie was a homemaker, and helped with farm work. She enjoyed playing cards, quilting, baking, and working outside. She was a member of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, and the Long Prarie Senior Citizens Center.
She is survived by her children: Eugene (Darlene) Johnson, Long Prairie, Karen (Morris) Priebe, Wadena; Judith (Richard) Dalen, Little Falls; sister, Alvina Winters, Melrose; grandchildren: Linda Smith, Kevin Wirth, Sandra Jakubowsky, Gerald Dalen, Michael Wirth, Amanda Brill, Nicholas Johnson, Theresa Johnson; and four great-grand-children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence, on June 19, 1979; brothers: Herman, John, Alphonse, and Alois Kemper; sisters: Rose Thieschafer, Anna Trisko, Francis Winters, and Veronica Sonnen; one great-grandchild, Marissa Wirth, and one son-in-law, Alvin Wirth. Casket bearers will be: Linda Smith, Kevin Wirth, Sandra Jabukowsky, Gerald Dalen, Michael Wirth, Amanda Brill, Nicholas Johnson, and Theresa Johnson.
