Sister Adeline Caspers, OSB, 83, of St. Joseph, died July 19, 2004, at Saint Scholastica Convent. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated onThursday, July 22, at the Sacred Heart Chapel, Saint Benedict's Monastery. Burial was in the monastery cemetery.
Sister Adelaide was born in Meire Grove, Minn., to Peter and Elizabeth (Primus) Caspers on March 7, 1921. She entered Saint Benedict's Monastery on July 2, 1941, and made her perpetual profession of vows on July 11, 1945. She took classes at the College of Saint Benedict, the St. Paul Diocesan Teachers' College and the College of St. Catherine. She taught in elementary schools in St. Paul, Hastings, Wadena, St. Cloud, Pierz and Albany. For the next 30 years she worked in the school or convent libraries at Pierz and Saint Benedict's Monastery. For the last 20 years she assisted with the elderly Sisters at Saint Scholastica Convent and in the convent library there.
Sister Adelaide is survived by her Benedictine community, five brothers, Aloys of Watherford, Mich.; Werner of Meire Grove; Edwin of New Hope; Cyril of Robbinsdale and Joseph of Richfield, Minn.; and three sisters, Marie Kilian of Bloomington; Lorraine Sand of Freeport; and Anna Weber of Melrose, Minn.
Four brothers, Anthony, Urban, Elmer and Robert, and three sisters, Elizabeth, OSB, Theresa Schoenborn, and Bernice Wachmann, preceded her in death.
