Individual Details

Earl Walter Weisner

(June 24, 1917 - February, 1984)

Earl was always interested in airplanes and flying. He always wanted to work as a pilot and when World War II started he enlisted in the Army Air Corp hoping to become a cadet and be able to fly. Because he was just on the upper cut off age but was able to pass the physical, he was made a cadet but never got to fly.

After the war he came home and took a job as a shoe repair instructor at Mpls. Vocational School where he worked for 30 years until a heart attack forced his retirement just a few months before he would have normally retired.

He had many private planes during his lifetime including one he built himself, a Meyer's (sp) Little Toot he called The Harpy Eagle. He sold it and his other plane after his heart attack, feeling it would be dangerous to himself and others to fly. He loved Civil War history and was a kind and gentle man.

He met Marcella at a 4th of July Celebration put on by his Uncle John Weisner who happened to be married to Marcella's Aunt Emma (Pflipsen). They were married 30 November 1939 (certified copy of marriage license on file with Diane Kimball) They had a happy marriage. Moving to CA for the last few year when the MN winters got to hard for his heart condition.

Earl was born 24 JUN 1917 and died Feb 1984 at 67 years of age. He had several heart attacks before dying.
