Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 12, 2007 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring, MN for Elizabeth C. Ahles, age 88, who died Wednesday at the Assumption Nursing Home, Cold Spring. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Relatives and friends may call after 4 p.m. Thursday and from 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring. The Christian Women and Catholic Aid Association will pray a rosary at 4:30 p.m. and Parish Prayers will be at 7:30 p.m. Thurs. evening.
Bette was born in Luxemberg, MN to Henry and Angela (Kluthe) Eikmeier. She married Valentine P. Ahles on December 31, 1941 in Mary of Immaculate Conception Church, Rockville, MN. The couple farmed for 30 years and moved to Cold Spring in 1972. Bette was a loving wife and mother. She also worked for the Cold Spring Bakery. She was a member of St. Boniface Parish, Christian Women and the Catholic Aid Association.
She is survived by her children, Carol Williams of NC, Jim of Coon Rapids, Ralph of HI. Louise Kedziora of CA, Francine of Mpls, MN, Rev. Valerian of KS, Vernon of Rockville, MN, Theresa of Mpls, MN, Mary Betterman of St. Louis Park, MN, Roger of TX; 20 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Norbert Eikmeier, Joseph Eikmeier, Msgr. Bernard Eikmeier, Anne Eisenreich, Julie Moen and Mary Mohs; sister-in-law, Patricia Eikmeier.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Valentine; son, Robert Ahles; daughter, Joan Ahles-Sonoda; grandson, Peter Ahles; brothers, Ed and Henry Eikmeier; sister, Angela Goenner. Memorials are preferred to Assumption Nursing Home in Cold Spring, MN or Rice Hospice in Paynesville, MN.
