Funeral services will be on Monday, June 2, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church in Paynesville for Harold A. Fischbach, age 82, of Paynesville, who passed away peacefully on Friday, May 30, 2003 at home surrounded by his family. Reverend Richard Leisen will officiate. Entombment will be in the St. Louis Parish Cemetery Mausoleum.

Friends may call from 4 - 8 p.m. Sunday at the Daniel-Anderson Funeral Home in Paynesville. Parish prayers will be at 6 p.m. followed by Knights of Columbus Council #3820 prayers at 7 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home in Paynesville.

Harold was born on February 13, 1921 in Richmond, MN to John and Christine (Hemmesch) Fischbach. He married Rita Hoppe on November 20, 1945 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich. Harold was employed as a USDA inspector for 37 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council #3820, St. Louis Parish and served as an usher.

His main interests were his children and grandchildren, sports, gardening and playing his harmonica. Harold was an avid fan of his grandchildren's activities.

He is survived by his wife, Rita of Paynesville; his children, Patsy (Bill) Temple of Oronoco, Roger (Janis) of Excelsior, Sandra (Mark) Van Rhyn, of Lincoln, Neb., David (Becky) of Detroit Lakes, Tim (Deb) of Waconia, Cindy (Lyle) Wendroth of Zumbrota, Nancy (Tim) Manz of Willmar, Susan (Paul) Burris of Paynesville, Scott (Michelle) of Paynesville; 21 grandchildren, and his brothers and sisters, Clarence of Sauk Centre, Aurelia Fuchs and Doris Hess of Paynesville, Ralph of Melrose, Vernon of Richfield, Nick of Paynesville, and Arlene Raeker of Minneapolis.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jerome.

Memorials are preferred to Rice Hospice of Paynesville. Arrangements are with the Daniel-Anderson Funeral Home in Paynesville.
