Mass of Christian Burial will be 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2010, at St. Paul's Catholic Church, St. Cloud for Leo S. Determan, 91, who died Saturday at his home. The Rev. Alan Wielinski will officiate. Friends and relatives may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, St. Cloud and after 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. St. Paul's Parish prayers will be at 6:00 p.m. and American Legion Post 254 prayers will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at funeral home. Burial with full military honors by Sauk Rapids American Legion Post 254 will be at Assumption Cemetery in St. Cloud.
Leo was born on May 9, 1918 to the late Joseph & Eleanora (Schley) Determan in Sauk Centre. He married Esther Polipnick April 11, 1944 St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre, She passed on June 30, 1988. He then married Mary Stachovich on February 4, 1994 at St. Paul's Catholic Church. Leo was employed by Purity Dairy of St. Cloud for 35 years as a milk man /truck driver then as a bus driver for Larson Bus Company, Sauk Rapids for 18 years. He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, Eagles Aerie #622, St. Cloud, Sauk Rapids American Legion Post 254 and the Sauk Rapids VFW 6992. He was a Naval Air Force veteran serving 4 years during World War II from 1942-1945.
Leo is survived by wife, Mary; children, Karen (Al) Klaverkamp of Sauk Rapids, Elaine (Marty) Shay of Albany, Joyce (Dan) Fuchs of St. Cloud, Joel (Judy) Determan of Sauk Rapids, Pam Scheel of Rice, Kathy (Larry) Stangler of Albany, Ron (Debbie) of Rice, Mark (Stacey) of St. Cloud, Mary (Ed) Janssen, of Foley, Janet of Sartell, Brad (Lori) of Lakeville; 27 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; brother, Norbert (Rose) of Pharr, TX.
Leo was preceded in death by grandson, David Fuchs; son-in-law, Wayne Scheel; brothers, Bernard, Joseph, William, Lawrence; sisters, Ann Fuchs, Frances Iten, Margaret Newman.
