Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church for August B. Toenies, 82, who died Sunday at Melrose Area Hospital. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. today and from 8 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Parish prayers will be at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home in Melrose, followed by prayers from Holy Name Society and Catholic Aid Society at 8:30.
August Toenies was born in Millwood Township, Stearns County, to Gerhard and Wilhelmina (Steinke) Toenies. He farmed in Millwood Township all his working years. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Catholic Order of Foresters, Holy Name Society, Catholic Aid Society and Crosier Apostolate.
Survivors include his brother and sisters, Urban of Freeport, Angeline Klasen of New Munich, Adella Klasen of Freeport, Mary Gerads of St. Anthony, and Leona Silbernick of Little Falls.
He was preceded in death by brother and sisters, Norbert, Clara Klaphake and Teckla Scherping.
