Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, February 18, 2008 at St. Benedict's Catholic Church, Avon, MN for Elmer A. Wiechmann, 87 who died Tuesday, February 12 at Mother of Mercy Nursing Home, Albany. Friends may call at the Church after 10 A.M. on Monday. Rev. Blane Wasnie will officiate. Burial will be11:00 A.M. Tuesday, February 19th at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls, MN.
Elmer was born to the late Henry and Rose (Bergman) Wiechmann in Avon, MN. He married Catherine M. Fuchs on September 10, 1946 at St. Benedict's Catholic Church, Avon. The couple farmed in the Upsala area for 47 years until retiring and moving to Avon. Elmer was a member of the St. Benedict's Catholic Church, Avon, and was an Air Force Veteran serving during WW II.
Elmer is survived by his wife, Catherine; children, Theresa (Larry) Eikmeier, Austin, MN; Rosie (Vernon) Ashfeld, Rockville; LeRoy (Trudy), Sartell; Loretta (Marvin) Fischer, Avon; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; sisters, Dolores Fuchs; Marcella Achmann; brother, Meinrad Wiechmann.
Elmer was preceded in death by his sister, Leona Wiechmann and infant grandsons Timothy and Thomas Ashfeld.
