Robert G. Hoppe, 79, a resident of Lansdale, PA since 1963, died unexpectedly Sat., Feb. 23, 2002 in Central Montgomery Medical Center, Lansdale. He was the husband of the late Rena A. (Mosciatti) Hoppe, who died in 1995.
He was born in Melrose, MN, a son of the late Anton J. and Theresia M. (Fichtinger) Hoppe.
Mr. Hoppe had a 20 year career with the US Navy as a military photographer, which included three trips to the Antarctica, retiring in 1963 as Senior Chief Photographer's Mate. After that, he was employed by E. I. duPont Research Laboratories in Wilmington, PA as a lab technician in the research and development field.
He was a member of St. Stanislaus Church, Lansdale. Mr. Hoppe worked the polls at Knapp School for a number of years, was an avid gardener and enjoyed jogging.
He is survived by 2 sons, Anthony R. Hoppe and his wife, Sue, of York, PA, and Paul M. Hoppe and his wife, Dale of Lansdale, PA; and 6 grandchildren, Ginene, Rebecca, Robert, Erich, Elizabeth and Jessica. Also surviving are a brother, Rev. Arthur H. Hoppe, of Freeport, MN; and sister, Rose Marie Schwarzmeier and her husband, Harold of Waukesha, WI.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass Tues., Feb. 26, at 10 A.M. in St. Stanislaus Church, Lansdale, where the family will greet friends after 9:30 a.m. Interment will be at Holy Sepulture Cemetery. Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home - Lansdale.
