A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2 pm on Wednesday, May 31, 2006 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Joseph for Paul M. Willenbring, age 93, formerly of St. Joseph who died comfortably on May 23, 2006 at the Assumption Home in Cold Spring, MN. The Rev. Gregory Miller OSB will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call between 4-8 pm on Tuesday and after 1 pm on Wednesday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Joseph, MN. St. Joseph Senior Citizens will pray at 4:30 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home in St. Joseph followed by St. Joseph parish prayers at 5 pm.

Paul was born on April 21, 1913 in Richmond, MN to Herman and Lucy (Schulte) Willenbring. As a young man, he was known for his boat manufacturing company where he produced „round bottom‰ boats. In 1942, Paul enlisted with the US Navy and was honorably discharged in 1945. He and his wife Grace lived in Oklahoma and California during the war. They lived in St. Cloud prior to becoming longtime residents of St. Joseph. Paul was employed at Franklin Mfg until his retirement. He spent his free time inventing and building many fascinating gadgets and tools in his workshop. He was always ready to help anyone with a tool or building dilemma. An ice fishing drill patent was only one of his accomplishments. Paul was a wonderful father and husband. Many summers were spent camping with his wife and daughter enjoying the outdoors. In 2004, Grace and Paul celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Organizational memberships include the Catholic War Veterans and the Catholic Order of Foresters.

Survivors include his daughter Eva (Jim) Lawrence-Fischer of California, sister Amelia (Joseph) Bibeau of St. Paul and brothers Joseph (Renee) of Cold Spring and Eugene (Bobbie) of Vermont.

He was preceded in death by his wife Grace, sisters Cecelia (Ralph) Doubeck and Julitta (Henry) Moore, brothers Bede, and Cyril (Ann).
