The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 4 p.m. on Thursday, November 18, at the Sacred Heart Chapel, Saint Benedict's Monastery, for Sister Francelda Weymann, 90, who died on November 13 at Saint Scholastica Convent. Burial will be in the monastery cemetery. Friends may call at Saint Scholastica Convent on Wednesday, November 17, from 1- 6 p.m., or for a Vigil Prayer Service at 7 p.m. at Saint Benedict's Monastery. Visitation continues at 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral at 4 p.m., Thursday, November 18, at Saint Benedict's Monastery.
Sister Francelda was born in Spring Hill, Minn., to Peter and Frances (Miller) Weymann on February 22, 1914. She entered Saint Benedict's Monastery on June 16, 1937, and made her perpetual profession on July 11, 1941. S. Francelda practiced the domestic arts for over 30 years at convents in St. Cloud, Perham, St. Raphael's Home, White Earth and Richmond. In 1975 she earned her beautician's license from the St. Cloud Beauty School. S. Francelda was a beautician for 18 years in addition to being a cook at St. Anthony's Rectory. She retired to St. Scholastica Convent in 1999.
Sr. Francelda is survived by her Benedictine community, two sisters (Mrs. Zita Sakry of Alcoa, Tenn., and Mrs. Hedy Lake of Minneapolis, Minn.), and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four sisters: Sister Mary Peter Weymann, OSB, Ms. Alma Lehn, Ms. Clara Beste and Ms. Rose Ross.
