Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 21, 2003 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in St. Joseph for Alma T. Gibbney, age 90, of St. Joseph who died Monday at St. Benedict's Senior Community Center. Reverend Gregory Miller, OSB will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call after 12:00 p.m. Noon on Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in St. Joseph.
Alma was born on August 16, 1913 in New Munich, MN to John and Gertrude (Klassen) Thielen. She married John J. Gibbney on November 27, 1952 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Westmont, Illinois. She has lived in St. Joseph since 1976. She was a member of St. Joseph's parish and the St. Joseph Council of Catholic Women and Senior Citizens.
Alma is survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John on July 27, 1982; sisters, Anna Bolfing, Sr. Theresa Thielen, OSB, Veronica Skille, Florentine Koetter, and Mary Thielen; brothers, Pete, August, Matt, Nick, and infant brothers James and Bernard.
Arrangements are with Daniel Funeral Home, St. Joseph.
