Family service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Pine Villa Care Center Chapel in Melrose for Arnold Athmann, who died Wed. at Pine Villa Care Center in Melrose.Interment will be in St. Paul¹s Cemetery in Sauk Centre. Friends may call one hour prior to service on Sunday at Pine Villa Care Center Chapel in Melrose.
Arnold Athmann was born in Spring Hill Township, Stearns County, to Joseph and Anna (Waldorf) Athmann. He was united in marriage to Irene Hinnenkamp on May 14, 1940, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Melrose. The couple owned and operated a grocery store in Spring Hill. Upon selling their store they bought a farm in Sauk Centre. Arnold¹s outgoing personality made it easy for him to sell OCCO feed products, which gave him a chance to get acquainted with farmers throughout the state. He then retired in 1979, and enjoyed traveling and spending time with his children. He was a member of St. Mary¹s Catholic Church in Melrose.
Survived by his children, Jane Vogel of St. Cloud, Vernon (Diane) Athmann of Sauk Centre, and Nancy (Bob) Kemper of Melrose; sisters, Rita Ritter of St. Rosa, and Genevieve Nathe of New Brighton; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Irene Athmann on March 8, 1960; and brother, Wilfred Athmann.
