ULLRICH, William, 96, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003 in Jacksonville, Fla., where he had lived for several years. He was born in Freudenberg am Main, Germany, but spent his early years in San Antonio, Fla., later living in Reading, Pa. and then New Port Richey, Fla.
He was predeceased by his parents, Max and Barbara Ullrich; his wife, Sophia; his sister, Rose Hermann; his brothers, Pete, Felix, Franz and Joseph (who died as an infant). He is survived by his daughter, Jeanette Brode of Jacksonville; three grandchildren; and three sisters, Betty Lee of Homosassa, Toni Sparkman of Brooksville, and Monica Oswald of Reading, Pa., along with numerous nieces and nephews. He graduated with honors from Saint Leo College Preparatory School in 1924. At the time of his death he was the eldest alumnus of Saint Leo. During his earning years, he was a self employed machinist in Reading, Pa. An avid motorcyclist, he was a lover of the Indian badges cycles. He was the first recipient of the "My One Wish" program at Taylor Homes in Jacksonville and was awarded a ride on the back of an Indian cycle at age 94. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated in St. Anthony of Padua Church, San Antonio on Friday, Dec. 5, 2003 at 11 a.m. Entombment will follow at Meadowlawn Memorial Gardens in New Port Richey.
