Ruth Marie Welle

Ruth Marie (Welle) Land (1918 - 2010) 92, of Roseburg, Oregon, passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2010.
She was born March 11, 1918, in Melrose, Minnesota to John H. And Ositha (Buttweiler) Welle. She graduated from Melrose High School and from Pomona College in California. On May 24, 1940 she was united in marriage to James Rufus Land at St Joseph's in Pomona. Ruth worked for the City of Upland, California for 28 years. She moved to Roseburg in 2005. Ruth enjoyed playing cards and sewing. She especially loved spending time with her family and her friends.
Survivors include her daughter, Carol Rossi (Ray) of Temple, Texas; son, Tim Land (Pamela) of Roseburg; granddaughter, Marianne Halter; grandsons, Todd Rossi (Julie) and Zach Land; and sisters-in-law, Doris Hotchkiss and Betty Johnson. She has six great-grandchildren.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, James Land on October 8, 1951; brothers and sisters, Ambrose Welle, Monica O'Connor, Florence Edelbrock, Gilbert Welle, Ralph Welle, and Bernice Scanlon.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2010 in Highland, California.
