Services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 27, 2002 at St. Boniface Catholic Church for Gregor Schlangen age 78, who died Thursday at the Assumption Nursing Home, Cold Spring. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring. Catholic Aid will pray at 4:30 p.m. Parish prayers will be at 8:00 p.m.
Gregor was born in Richmond to Joseph and Katy (Stang) Schlangen. He married Rita Decker on June 10, 1953 in the Holy Cross Catholic Church, Pearl Lake, MN. He farmed, worked for Miller Construction, and the Cold Spring Granite Company before he retired in 1985. He was a member of the Catholic Aid Association.
Survivors include his wife, Rita; daughters and sons, Josephine (Fred) Klein, Julieann (Stephen) Loch, Joyce (Steven) Wuotila, Alvina Slye, Larry (Karen), Andrew, Conrad (Roxianna), Peter, Clara (Robert) Bruce, Susan (Robert) Svihel, Alice (Scott) Brenny, and Marie; brothers, Daniel, and Marcus; sisters, Elsie, Maranda, Bertha, and Anna Mae; 25 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son Mathew; brothers Alfred, Herbert; and his sister, Rose.
