Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. on Monday, October 5, 2009 at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Lake Henry for Armella Bernadine Spanier, age 79, of Lake Henry who passed away unexpectedly on September 30 while recovering from heart surgery at the St. Cloud Hospital. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery. Relatives and friends may call from 3-8 p.m. on Sunday and after 10 a.m. on Monday at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Lake Henry. St. Margaret’s Rosary Society, Christian Mothers and Catholic Aid will pray a rosary at 4 p.m. and parish prayers will be at 7 p.m. on Sunday at the church.

Armella was born September 22, 1930 in Richmond, MN to John C. and Monica (Ahmann) Braegelmann. She married John A. Spanier on May 12, 1959 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Richmond. They farmed near Lake Henry until retirement in 1993. She will be remembered for her love of her family, attending her grandchildren’s events, always remembering birthdays and her attention to detail when it came to her home, garden and community. She was an active member of St. Margaret’s Parish and choir.

Armella is survived by her husband of 50 years, John; children: Jonelle (Roger) Heinen of New London, Julie (Dale) Schlangen of Lake Henry, Jane (Robert) Bertram of Spring Hill, James (Cindy) Spanier of Lake Henry, Joyce (Wayne) Borash of Sobieski and Jeri Ann (Steve) Mathison of Willmer, 21 grandchildren, one great grandchild, and sisters: Lydia Willenbring of Cold Spring and Sr. Burkard Braegelmann, OSB of St. Cloud.

Preceding her in death were her parents, granddaughter Rebecca Borash (1998), and sister Valeria Hettwer.
