Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, April 21 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waite Park, for Celestine “Cel” Philippi, 82, who passed away April 18, 2009. The Reverend Bernard Gruenes will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-9:00 PM on Monday, and after 9:00 AM on Tuesday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud. Parish Prayers will be at 5:00 PM, the Waite Park American Legion Post #428 will have prayers at 6:00 PM, and the Moose Lodge #1400 will pray at 6:30 PM.

Cel was born in St. Joseph on December 6, 1926, to John and Rose (Lutgen) Philippi. He married Dolores Ramler on August 21, 1948 in Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Albany. He served in the US Army during WWII in the Pacific Theater. Cel worked for Burlington Northern Railroad for 38 years. Cel was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a member of: St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, American Legion Post #428, Eagle’s Aerie #622, VFW Post #4847, life member of the Moose Lodge #1400, Nocturnal Adoration Society, and NARVRE.

Cel is survived by: his wife Dolores, sons, Dale (Sue) of Royalton, Allen (Connie) and Michael of St. Cloud, Jeffrey (Mary) of Sauk Rapids, Wayne (Cindy) of St. Cloud; 15 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; brother Art (Peggy), Del (Vi), sister Lorraine Thole.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Sylvan, Wilfred, sisters Viola Schreifels, Donna Mae and Juliann Philippi.
