Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church for Ignatius J. Pung, 79, who died Monday at the Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix.Interment will be in the parish cemetery.Friends may call after 3:30 p.m. Friday and from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Daughters of Isabella will pray at 4:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home in Melrose followed by parish prayers at 8 and Knights of Columbus and St. Michael's Men's Society at 9.
Ignatius Pung was born in Spring Hill to Frank and Margaret (Schiemann) Pung. He married Edwina Bertram on Oct. 20, 1941, in Belgrade. He farmed near Spring Hill until retiring in April 1969. The couple spent their winters in Phoenix. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose. He also was a member of the St. Michael's Men's Society and was a fourth-degree knight with Melrose Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Mike of Cold Spring, Daniel of Spring Hill, and Wilfred of Coarse Gold, Calif.; brothers, Al of St. Cloud, and Frank Jr. of McAllen, Texas; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
