Barbara A. Moffitt, age 59 of Sauk Centre, died Wednesday, June 11, 2008, at St. Michael's Hospital in Sauk Centre. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Friday, June 13, at First Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre. Rev. Rebecca Thomas officiated with interment following in Greenwood Cemetery.
Barbara Moffitt was born on Aug. 11, 1948, in Melrose to Edwin and Clara (Harmeling) Proell. On April 9, 1990, she married Gerald "Jerry" Moffitt in Sisseton, S.D. Barb was a member of First Lutheran Church of Sauk Centre. After retiring from the Amoco Terminal, she enjoyed working at Getty Street Assisted Living. She also enjoyed the Saturday morning card games at St. Michael's Nursing Home, ice fishing, reading and watching high school basketball, the Twins and the Vikings.
She is survived by her husband Jerry E. Moffitt; son, Daryl (Jill Hellquist) Schmeisser of Sauk Centre; step-children, Jerry (Jennifer) Moffitt of Des Moines, Iowa, Michelle (Jeff) Johnson of Sherburn, Jodi (Mark) Broesder of Bert, Iowa, Michael (Deb) Moffitt of Ringstead, Iowa and Jeff Moffitt of Ringstead, Iowa; 18 grandchildren; sister, Carolyn (Larry) Steffens of Long Prairie; brothers, Michael (Long) Proell of Lacey, Wash., Jim (Shelly) Proell of Sauk Centre and Edwin Proell of St. Cloud.
She was preceded in death by daughter Julie Schmeisser in 1969; parents, Edwin and Clara Proell; and three infant brothers. Serving as casket bearers were Tom Otte, Kevin Dirkes, Scott Drobny, Keith Karnes, Jerry A. Moffitt and Michael Moffitt. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred. Arrangements were made with Patton-Schad Funeral & Cremation Services of Sauk Centre.
