Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport for Bernadetta Pung, who died Tuesday at her home. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 3:30 to 9 p.m. Friday, and one hour prior to services on Saturday, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport. Saint Mary's Mission Group and the Sacred Heart Christian Mothers will pray at 7 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 8 p.m. Friday at the church.
Bernadetta Frances Pung was born January 24, 1927 in Belgrade to Mike and Isabelle (Kolb) Bertram. She married Alcuin Pung on June 19, 1945 in St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church in Belgrade. The couple farmed near Freeport for 33 years. They have lived in Saint Cloud since 1979. She loved to sew quilts and baby blankets for her family, and for parish bazaars. She also loved growing plants and flowers. She was a member of Saint Peter's Catholic Church in Saint Cloud, Saint Peter's Christian Women, Sacred Heart Christian Mothers, and the Prime American Club.
Survivors include her husband, Al Pung of Saint Cloud; children, Darlene (Laverne) Ludwig of Richmond, Jean (Don) Felling of Plymouth, Duane (Kathy) Pung of Freeport, Brenda (Mike) Wiechmann of St. Rosa, Randy Pung of Sartell, Debbie (Tom) Thielman of Saint Cloud, Mary (Scott) Packer of Gramby, Colorado; sisters, Edwina Pung of Phoenix, AZ, Leora Leukam of Greenwald, Joan Meyer of Belgrade; 23 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; special friend, Sister Mary Minette, OSB.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Alice Leukam. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Arrangements are with Patton-Schad Funeral Service of Freeport.
