SALEM - Joan Marie McMullen passed away on January 22 at the age of 69. She was born April 27, 1935 in Seattle, Wash. to Walter and Mildred (Ballinger) Nathe.
Joan lived in California as a child and graduated from Albany High School. She married Michael McMullen on July 1, 1961. Joan retired in 1996 after working for Salem Keizer Public Schools as a media clerk for 17 years. She was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Joan enjoyed woodcarving, quilting, knitting and needlepoint and was a member of Capital Quilters and the Sew Whats.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband Michael in 1994.
She is survived by three sons, Sean and wife, Mona of Salem, Brendan and wife, Karen of Portland and Kieran of Salem; one sister, Cecilia Ortman of Albany; four brothers, Richard and John of Salem, Nick of Portland and Bill of Tucson, Ariz.; and two grandsons, Tristan and Michael, both of Salem. Family and friends are invited to a memorial service on Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. at Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Private inurnment will be in Willamette Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service.
