Roderick Kleinfehn, 89, of New Ulm, died Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at the Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye. Mass of Christian Burial was Friday, March 6, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm with Msgr. Douglas Grams presiding, with burial following in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.

Roderick Charles Kleinfehn, the son of Oscar and Marie (Selensky) Kleinfehn, was born March 21, 1919, in West Union, where he spent his youth and attended West Union Country School. Roderick was united in marriage to Leona Bueckers on April 27, 1943, in Freeport. Together, they farmed in West Union until 1966, when they moved to New Ulm. Roderick was employed as a custodian for New Ulm Public Schools until retiring in 1979. After retirement, he drove a school bus part-time for ten years. Roderick enjoyed cars, fishing and playing cards. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm.

Survivors include his wife Leona of New Ulm; daughters, Ramona (Steve) Jentz of Fairmont, Sharon (John) Stroeing of New Ulm; five grandchildren, Stacy (Shawn) Berg of Fairmont, Brian (Geraldine) Jentz of Great Britain, Cari (Patrick) Altmann of Kenosha, Wis., Craig (Jennifer) Stroeing of Faribault, Timothy (Lisa)Stroeing of Wadena; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Roman Kleinfehn of West Union; and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Vincent Kleinfehn.
