Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 31, 2009 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring, MN for Eric H. Vogt, age 75, who died Wednesday at his home from heart failure. Burial will be in the St. Boniface Parish Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Friday and from 9:00 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring. Parish Prayers will be at 4:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
Eric was born in Richmond, MN to Leo and Christine (Thelen) Vogt. He married Nancy Spoden on July 25, 1953 in St. Boniface Church, Cold Spring. Eric loved and cherished his family. He was a butcher, meat cutter, and owner of Vogt Food Market. He served his community as mayor, councilman, planning commission and being part of the deputy sheriffs special unit. Eric was proud of his community and always strived to help it continue to grow and prosper. His positive attitude in life will be missed, but sure to be carried on in his children and grandchildren. Eric enjoyed hunting, fishing, welding, building projects and just being an all around handyman. He was a member of St. Boniface Parish.
Survivors include his children, Dave (Donna), John (Sandy), Sandy Vogt Storms; brother, Denis (Pat); grandchildren, Tammy (Shawn) Garding, Amy (Joel) Theis, Christina (Nic) Stang, Ryan (Becky) Storms, Eric and Amber Vogt; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Shelby, Merideth, Alayna, Courtney, Abby and Savannah.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy (2006); granddaughter, Shelly Storms; parents; brother, David.
