Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Hedwigs Catholic Church in Holdingford for Edwin B. Winter, age 92, who died Saturday at the Albany Area Hospital. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. Monday and after 9:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Miller-Carlin-Brenny Funeral Home in Holdingford. Holdingford Senior Citizens will pray at 4 p.m., St. Hedwigs parish prayers will be at 8:00 p.m. followed by the Knights of Columbus St. Isidore Council #9307 and the St. Joseph's Society at 8:30 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home in Holdingford.
Edwin Winter was born November 26, 1909, in Grove Township to Michael and Elizabeth (Hansen) Winter. He married Emma Schwieters on October 27, 1936, in New Munich. Edwin farmed for 25 years. He also owned an upholstery shop in Sartell, and after he retired he continued to do upholstery work at home. Edwin's favorite past time was gathering with friends and family often for a friendly game of cards. Win or lose, his wit and humor always made the games more enjoyable. He also liked gardening and Twins baseball. Edwin was a member of St. Hedwigs Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus St. Isidore Council #9307, St. Joseph's Society, Catholic Aide and the Holdingford Senior Citizens.
Edwin Winter is survived by his wife, Emma; children, Marvin (Marilyn) Winter, Bowlus, Janelle (Jerry) Kirchner, Grey Eagle, James (Sharon) Winter, St. Wendel, Juanita (Bob) Haffley, Richmond, Romona (James) Rosinger, Holdingford, Arlys (James) Akervik, St. Cloud, and Michael (Debra) Winter, Becker. He is also survived by his sister, Sr. Jeanne Winter, OSF, Little Falls; 25 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren.
Edwin is preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Al Winter, Betty Vail, Ervin Winter, Jean Vail, Sr. Frances Winter, OSF, Leander Winter, Delphine Winter, Victor Winter, an infant brother and infant sister; grandson, Mike Owen Winter and great-grandson Bradley Winter.
