Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at St. Benedicts Catholic Church in Avon, for Robert Bob Brix, 84, Avon, who died on Friday, November 28, 2008 at St. Benedicts Senior Community, St. Cloud. Friends and relatives may call from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 2nd at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Avon and also at the church one hour prior to the services on Wednesday. Rev. Blane Wasnie, OSB will officiate. Parish prayers will be at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Bob was born November 24, 1924 in Collegeville Township to the late Anton and Anna (Liebing) Brix. He married Melvina Murphy on June 27, 1949 at St. Benedicts Catholic Church in Avon. Bob was a lifelong member of St. Benedicts Catholic Church.
Bob and Melvina farmed for the first 5 years of their marriage and then moved to Avon. Bob never lost his love for the land and the animals. He continued to farm while he worked for Megarry Brothers, Franklin Manufacturing, Cold Spring Granite, Sears, Tempo and St. Johns University. Bob retired from St. Johns in 1992, but maintained an active interest in the farm. He enjoyed fishing, travel, and going to casinos. He most enjoyed his family and visiting with people.
Bob is survived by his wife of 59 years, Melvina; daughter, Karen (Robert) Kroska; granddaughter, Laura (Randy) Kluver; and two great- grandsons, Dylan and Dalton.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, John, George, Norbert, Jake, Albert, Ervin, Roman, Raymond, Ralph and Leo; and sister, Sophie Olmscheid.
