Services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2003 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Richmond, MN for Norbert F. Poepping, Sr., age 78, who died Friday at his residence. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Monday and from 9-10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Wenner Funeral Home in Richmond. The Golden Smiles will pray a rosary at 4:30 p.m. and parish prayers will be at 8:00 p.m.
Norbert was born in St. Martin, MN to Henry and Ida (Lucken) Poepping. He married Bernadette Evens on September 1, 1947 in St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Farming, MN. Norbert worked 31 years for the Cold Spring Granite Company, 10 years at Nubby's Auto Service as a mechanic and 2 1/2 years for Cold Spring Car Quest doing parts delivery. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Parish and the Polka Lovers Club of America.
Survivors include his wife, Bernadette; children, Ginny Bushman, Judy (Jerry) Thielen, Norb Jr. (Clare), Ione (Ted) Becker, Luan (Duane) Eisenschenk; brothers and sisters, Marie Thomas, Joe Poepping, Bernie Ramler, Beata Theis, Jerome Poepping, Ralph Poepping, Al Poepping; 21 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Frank; brother-in-laws, Henry Hallerman, Peter Ramler, Al Thomas, and sister-in-law, Tillie Poepping.
