A Memorial Service celebrating the life of Jerome V. Lahr, age 89 of St. Cloud, will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud, who passed away March 15, 2008. The Reverend Thomas Knoblach will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls at a later date. Visitation will be one hour prior to service.
Jerome was born September 24, 1918 to Martin and Frances (Pollock) Lahr. He graduated from St. Cloud Tech High School before entering into the U.S Army in 1941. He served in the Pacific Theater including the battle of Iwo Jima before being honorably discharged. Jerome attended St. Cloud State University for two years. On December 31, 1943 he married Dorothy E. Blonigen. He retired in 1981 from the Minnesota Corrections Facility after 34 years of service. Jerome was an avid fan of local sports. He enjoyed traveling with family and loved backyard wildlife. He was a member of the Knights of Colum-bus, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Reformatory Retired Employees Club, as well as the President and founder of the Reformatory Credit Union.
Jerome is survived by wife, Dorothy; children, Richard of Burnsville, Diane (Rich) Blenkush of St. Cloud, Lisa (Anthony) Watercott of Minneapolis; grandchildren, Brittany and Tyler Blenkush.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters, Leo, Raymond, Angeline, Florence, and Cecelia. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
