Mass of Christian Burial for Duane R. Gerads, age 57, of Albany, will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in St. Anthony. Fr. Joseph Licari OSB will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery with military honors. Duane died Thursday, September 11, 2008 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Friends may call from 4 to 9 Tuesday and Wednesday from 8 to 10 at the Miller-Carlin-Brenny Funeral home in Albany. Parish prayers will be Tuesday at 5:00 PM followed by the Al Beseman American Legion Post #482 at 7:00 PM at the funeral home in Albany. Miller-Carlin-Brenny Funeral Home in Albany is in charge of the arrangements.
Duane was born April 7, 1951 in Melrose to Roman and Mary (Toenies) Gerads. He graduated from Albany High School and served in the Army National Guard. He farmed most of his life in Krain Township near St. Anthony until 2005 when he moved to Albany. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church.
He is survived by his children, Troy, Meire Grove, Shawn (Kathy), Avon, Tara, Wanamingo, and Shane, St. Cloud; 10 grandchildren; mother, Mary, Albany; sister, Denise (Mac) Thrasher, Eagan; and 3 nieces and 5 nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Todd; father, Roman; and brother, Dennis.
