Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at St. Martin Catholic Church in St. Martin, MN for Amanda Blonigen, age 75, who died Saturday at the Melrose Hospital. Burial will be in the St. Martin Parish Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. -- 9:00 p.m. Monday and from 9:00 a.m. -- 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Martin Parish Hall in St. Martin. Parish prayers will be at 8:00 p.m. followed by a rosary with the Christian Women and Catholic Aid Association Monday evening. Arrangements were entrusted with the Wenner Funeral Home, Richmond.
Amanda was born in Farming, MN to Gregor and Cecilia (Behnen) Wieber. She married Christopher Blonigen on June 23, 1953 in St. Catherine's Catholic Church, Farming. Amanda was a farm housewife and raised 11 children. She sewed most of the children's clothes. In her later years she sewed pot holders. Amanda also enjoyed singing in the church choir, gardening and canning. She was a member of St. Martin Parish, Christian Women and the Catholic Aid Association. Alzheimer's may have taken Amanda from us, but not our many fond memories of her.
Survivors include her husband, Christopher; sons, Roger (Sharon), Reuben, Roman (Mary), Marvin, John (Renee), Leon (Marie), Vernon (Sherri) and Melvin; daughters, Rosie (Roger) Walsh, Lora (Wendell) Larson and Janette (Jim) Niklaus; 16 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; brothers and sister, Lawrence Wieber, Richard Wieber and Mary Jo Wieber.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter-in-law, Linda (Lentz) Blonigen.
