Angeline J. Daniel, age 91 of Sauk Centre, died Friday, May 16, 2008, at St. Michael's Nursing Home in Sauk Centre. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 20, at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Rev. Todd Schneider officiated with interment following in Calvary Cemetery.

Angeline Joan Grossman was born on June 3, 1916, in Chokio to Frank and Gertrude (Boehmer) Grossman. On Aug. 15, 1943, she married Gerhardt "Jerry" Daniel at the rectory of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Before her marriage to Jerry, Angeline taught in rural schools around the Sauk Centre area. Angeline took a leave from teaching to start a family, she returned to it when her youngest child entered kindergarten. She continued to teach into her 70s, teaching at Sacred Heart in Freeport and at Holy Family School in Sauk Centre. Angeline loved to learn and was a life-long learner at that, continuing her own education by going back to college in her 60s. She had many gifts and writing was one of them. She wrote plays for her students and had a poem published. Angeline had a beautiful voice and could play the piano by ear. She was also talented at sewing and drawing.
Angeline was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, Christian Mothers and the VFW Auxiliary. She loved spending time outdoors, gardening, watching the birds and traveling, keeping track of each state that she visited. Family was very important to her and she was a devoted grandmother.

She is survived by her children, David Daniel of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Byron (Marsha) Daniel of St. Croix Falls, Wis., Colette (Paul) Pritts of Bloomingdale, Ill., Maureen Thissen of Reno, Nev., Gerry (Ada) Daniel of Golden Valley and Monica (Curt) Blaske of Sauk Centre; 20 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Delores Fritsche and Dorothy Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerhardt "Jerry" Daniel on Aug. 30, 1980; sisters, Ursula Klowski and Monica Schlimme; and brother, Louis Grossmann. Serving as casket bearers were Lori Rasmussen, Chris Daniel, Paul Pritts Jr., Nadyne Fletcher, Nicole Herlofsky and Brian Daniel. Cross bearer was Alex Herlofsky and scripture bearer was Melissa Daniel. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to St. Michael's Hospice Program.
