Gerald 'Jerry' J. Schreifels, age 78, of Foley, died Thursday April 17, 2008 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30am Monday, April 21, 2008 at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church, Brennyville. The Rev. Thomas Olson will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 9pm Sunday at the Foley Funeral Home in Foley and 9 to 10am Monday at the funeral home. Parish prayers will be 5 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
Gerald Schreifels was born May 27, 1929 in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Alois and Clara (Theisen) Schreifels. He married Josephine Muellner October 26, 1965 at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church in Brennyville. He had worked for Swift Co. in S. St. Paul for 20 years and farmed most of his life near Ramey. He also worked as a carman and welder for Burlington Northern for 20 years. Farming was his pride and joy. He was a member of St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church in Brennyville.
He is survived by his wife, Josephine, Foley; sons and daughter, Paul (Sharon), Eden Prairie; Diane (Dale) Kleen, Sauk Rapids; John (Michelle), Apple Valley; 6 grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Melvin, Sartell; Violet Philippi, Sartell; LeRoy, Sauk Rapids; Kathy Dehmer, St. Michael; Carol Schreifels, St. Cloud; and MaryAnn Herren, Sartell.
He was preceded in death by his sisters and brother, Renee Fuchs, Earl and Elsie Schreifels.
